In religion, the question of how God has revealed Himself and what constitutes final authority, is of first importance. As much as we value sincerity, it is no substitute for TRUTH. When you think about it, truth is the basis on which we make decisions in every other area of life. For instance, who would think of choosing a physician or an engineer simply because the person was sincere? No, we want the people who treat our health needs and build our bridges to do their work on the basis of medical principles that are grounded in truth, and engineering principles that are grounded in truth. Likewise, faith in God, to be genuine, must be anchored in truth.
