The Act of “Faith”

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” - Prov 3:5-6 (KJV)

These promises of God are true for every one of us. However, in order to receive them we need to act in “faith”.

I say “act” because our performance is required. For instance, our first “act of faith” was when we believed in Jesus Christ. We received the Holy Spirit, but it required us to humble our self and give up on our own understanding. If we continue acting in “faith we will read God’s word and study and meditate on it so that we will know how to “acknowledge him in all our ways”.  We will not understand all of God’s word, but He has given us a promise that his “Holy Spirit” will “lead us into all truth.”

“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.” - John 16:13-15 (KJV)

If we believe these verses, our actions will show that we do, i.e. we will study, memorize and meditate on God’s word trusting the Holy Spirit to lead us to understanding it. If we do this, “He shall direct our path.”

May God bless you as you “act in faith” today.

Blessings, Orval
