Remaining a Dwelling Place for God

“so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love,” - Eph 3:17 (NIV) 


“Through Faith” Christ dwells in our hearts. The same “faith” we experienced when we first trusted in Jesus. When we recognized our sin would separate us from God forever but God made a way for us to be forgiven by sending Jesus to die for that sin. That day, we placed no confidence in anything we could do. That day, we bowed our heart and believed God and experienced his forgiveness, love and peace that are beyond explanation, we received that “unspeakable gift” and were filled with “unspeakable joy”!

God would love for us to “abide” in this place with him. Paul expresses it well:  “We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first.” - Hebrews 3:14 (NIV)

We will experience his abiding presence as we “hold firmly” day by day, moment by moment, this “first confidence.”

As we do this, the power of God is released through us to reveal his “manifold wisdom to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms.”

“His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms,” - Eph 3:10(NIV)

These “rulers and authorities” are in rebellion against God and never surrender their will to Him. However, we, by surrendering our will are made instruments of war in the hands of God through which he ushers in his eternal kingdom, demonstrating his “manifold wisdom.” God uses the weak things, i.e. us, to put to shame the strong things, i.e. “rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms.” 

May God give us the resolve to continue in childlike faith as at the beginning that we may become the weapons of war he would have us become.
