Chapter 3: Jesus is God

We have said that we can gain knowledge of God in four ways:

1. Through the process of reason and the investigation of His creation.
2. Through the study of His written Word, the Bible.
3. Through His Son, Jesus Christ, God in human form.
4. Through the inner witness of the Holy Spirit.

Chapter 4: How It All Began
The other day I called the auto club to ask for a travel planner. I told the agent that I wanted to go to New York City. “And where will you be leaving from?” she asked. I responded with, “Does it matter?” Trying not to laugh, the agent replied, “If you can't tell me where you are starting from, I can't help you reach your destination.”

You know, that's how it is in life. Where we start makes a great difference.

Volume 2

Chapter 1: Considering Other Answers
In Volume I, we have presented the evidence for our belief that God is living, loving, and personal, and that it is possible to know Him through the process of reason and through His written Word, the Bible. We have established that Jesus Christ was indeed the Son of God as He claimed to be, and that God personally created all that exists.

Chapter 2: Salvation
God's love says, “Pardon the sinner,” while His righteousness says, “Punish sin.” How can the two be reconciled? How can God satisfy both His love and His holiness when dealing with the sinner and sin?

Chapter 3: The Holy Spirit

In our study together, we have seen that reason and faith are compatible. Reason can lead us to faith. If reason tells me that the cosmos could come into being only through a Creator, then I must believe there is a Creator. If reason tells me there is a Creator, then I must believe there is a purpose for His creation. Believing there is a purpose for His creation, I must believe the Creator would communicate His purpose.
